Games Convention 09 has been canceled

Organizers refused to conduct a game of Games Convention in 2009, reports GamesIndustry. It was to be held in late August, in Leipzig. Already aware that the exhibition will replace the event called Gamescom, which will take place in Cologne from 19 to 23 August. It will be preceded by the traditional European game developers conference.

Guide Fairgrounds Leipziger Messe has already issued an official press release, which reported on a new exhibition called Game Convention Online. The event will take place from 31 July to 2 August.
According to organizers, it will focus on browser-games, as well as projects for mobile phones.

The first exhibition game Games Convention was held in 2002. Over time it evolved into the largest European event for the games. Last year the exhibition was attended by 203 thousand gamers. It is also known that the event has attracted the attention of 3800 journalists from 48 countries.

In August last year association (BIU) has declared the possibility of shifting Games Convention in Cologne, where the more capacious exhibition. However, the leaders of Leipziger Messe, which is a co-founder and owner of rights to the name of Games Convention, refused the offer.

Differences between the two organizations have resulted in the BIU leadership decided to create a new exhibition in Cologne Gamescom. Late last year it was reported that organizers plan to hold it at the same time as Games Convention, inform the tape.
